HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia State Police say that the summer is off to a “tragic” start, with 25 reported traffic deaths in a single week.
That includes one fatal crash in Augusta County, and two deadly accidents in Rockingham County between May 28.
Spokesperson Matt Demlein says that he hopes these numbers will remind folks to pay attention behind the wheel.
“Recommit to safe driving habits,” Demlein said. “That means driving smart, driving safe and striving sober. Make sure that when you’re driving, it is your primary and only focus when you’re out on the road.”
According to State Police, there have been 336 traffic-related deaths in the commonwealth so far this year.
