ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Rockingham County that occurred earlier this week at the Dayton Walmart shopping center.
Sg.t Brent Coffey confirmed in an email to Rocktown Now Wednesday that the crash occurred Monday just before 1 p.m. in the 2100 block of John Wayland Highway. A 2011 Subaru Outback attempted to park, lost control, and crashed into a storefront belonging to Smoke House & Vape, a tobacco outlet in the shopping center.
The driver of the Subaru, Gary T. Obrien, 68, of Harrisonburg, was charged with reckless driving. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to Coffey.
Neither he, nor anyone inside the store, were injured.
