AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Stribling Springs Rd. and Stover Shop Rd. in Augusta County.

According to a news release, the crash occurred Wednesday night around 11:30 p.m., when a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling south on Stribling Springs Rd. It ran off the right side of the road, where it struck an embankment and a tree and overturned.

The driver, Martha N. Root, 41, of Mt. Solon, Va., was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle according to police. She died at the scene.

Authorities are considering speed as a factor in the crash.
