RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Governor Abigail Spanberger and First Gentleman Adam Spanberger welcomed a delivery of Virginia-grown pumpkins to the Executive Mansion on Monday, marking the annual celebration of Virginia Pumpkin Month. This year’s pumpkins were grown and delivered by Richdale Farm, a fifth‑generation operation in Wytheville run by the Crowgey family. The tradition is coordinated by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Virginia Pumpkin Growers’ Association to highlight the importance of fall agriculture across the Commonwealth.
First Gentleman Adam Spanberger thanked the Crowgey family for continuing the seasonal tradition and encouraged Virginians to support local farmers when choosing fall decorations and agritourism activities. Richdale Farm, operated by Eric and Aaron Crowgey and their families, hosts a popular fall festival featuring pumpkin picking, hayrides, a corn maze, and other activities. Aaron Crowgey and his son Graham delivered the pumpkins and received a gubernatorial proclamation officially designating October as Virginia Pumpkin Month.
Virginia farmers harvested approximately 4,700 acres of pumpkins in 2025, producing $16.9 million in fresh‑market value and ranking the state seventh nationally. Agriculture Secretary Katie Frazier said the 2025 pumpkin crop is strong and urged families to visit local pumpkin patches and bring home Virginia Grown pumpkins to celebrate the season.
