RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Public officials believe both Virginia and West Virginia residents may have been exposed to measles.

Both states’ health departments have been notified this week of a confirmed case of measles at Washington Dulles International Airport Wednesday of last week.

The confirmed case was an individual who was returning from international travel and is a Maryland resident.

Authorities say Dulles travelers who spent time in Terminal A, were on transportation to the main terminal or in the baggage claim area between the hours of 4 and 9 pm on March 5th may have been exposed to the highly contagious illness.

Residents with questions about exposure can call the Virginia Department of Health or the West Virginia Office of Epidemiology and Prevention Services.
