MOUNT SOLON VA  (ROCKTOWN NOW)– The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a series of incidents involving vehicles being shot at while traveling on N. River Road in the Mount Solon area. These incidents, which occurred on December 28, 2024, are being treated with the highest priority.

The first incident was reported around 1:30 PM, though it was not immediately brought to the attention of the Sheriff’s Office. The second incident took place near the intersection of Miller’s Sawmill Road and N. River Road at approximately 3:20 PM. The third shooting was reported at about 6:45 PM, also along N. River Road.

Law enforcement maintained a significant presence in the Mount Solon area throughout the evening and into the night, working diligently to ensure public safety and gather evidence.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the weapon used may be a pellet or air rifle. Despite the seemingly less severe nature of these weapons compared to other firearms, the Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that this remains a serious and dangerous crime. Authorities are fully committed to solving these incidents and holding those responsible accountable.
