ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Virginia Department of Transportation is urging drivers to stay off the roads until at least 10am Monday morning.

Officials say by delaying travel, drivers are helping VDOT crews work around the clock to get to subdivision streets sooner.

Crews focus on interstates and most primary routes first and they may not reach all secondary roads and subdivisions for several days. Extreme cold during and after the storm extends the time needed to complete plowing operations and may cause refreezing to previously plowed and treated roads.

VDOT reminds drivers if you are traveling, give crews room to work and never pass a plow truck actively pushing snow.
