HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Slots are still open for anyone hoping to get involved in this Friday’s Day of Action through the United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

This year, the day will benefit 24 local schools and nonprofits in need of a variety of services – from painting, to cleaning, to landscaping, and more.

Jim Sacco, the organization’s Director of Development, told Rocktown Now earlier today that folks don’t need to have experience to help out – they just need to come ready to work.

“With a lot of these projects, you will get dirty and you will sweat,” Sacco said. “Thankfully, the weather is supposed to be fairly decent, I think in the mid 70s, and I’m knocking on wood as I say this and hopefully no rain. So it’s gonna get warm out there. There’s gonna be work and you’re gonna be sore the next day. But goodness gracious, it’s a fun time and it’s just great to bond with folks.”

Interested helpers can sign up through tomorrow at the United Way’s website, uwhr.org.
