AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Virginia State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer that occurred Saturday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m. on Northbound Interstate 81 mile-marker 228 in Augusta County.
According to a release, a 2025 Volvo VNL tractor trailer was travelling northbound on I-81 in the left lane when it was struck by a 2025 Honda CRV that was attempting to move from the right lane to the left lane. The impact caused both vehicles to strike the guard rail and the bridge. The cab then separated from the trailer and went off the right side of the bridge and into the Middle River below. The trailer overturned on the bridge and along with the CRV caught fire.
The driver of the tractor trailer, 42-year-old Arpinder S. Flora of Gainesville was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Flora was taken to an area hospital.
The driver of the CRV, 22-year-old Mustafa B. Dogan of Ridgefield, N.J., suffered serious injuries and was also taken to an area hospital. Dogan was charged with reckless driving.
