HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced the congressional passage of five funding bills to provide $93 million to 78 community projects in Virginia.
These five bipartisan bills fund Defense; Financial Services and General Government; Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), Education, and related agencies; National Security, Department of State, and related programs; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and related agencies for Fiscal Year 2026.
Two projects in Harrisonburg were selected to receive funding from these bills. These projects include $2,000,000 for the Harrisonburg Redevelopment & Housing Authority to preserve permanent supportive housing units and $1,390,000 for Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg to expand its STEM
education programs.
The funding was secured through the Congressionally Direct Spending in FY2026 Government Funding Bill.
