HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Rockingham County, the northwest portion of Augusta County and southern Shenandoah County are suffering from a severe drought, according to the U.S. Drought monitor.  The rest of the valley is considered to be in a moderate drought.  While it’s not expected to bring enough rain to bring us out of the drought, rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday may help.  What’s known as Tropical Storm Eight will bring heavy rain to parts on South and North Carolina before moving toward the Shenandoah Valley Tuesday.

Widespread rain will start during Tuesday afternoon.  The storm is expected to slow as it moves inland, bringing the possibility of a extended period of rain, which may last into Wednesday.

The Weather Prediction Center  is currently forecasting between 1-2 inches of rain for the Shenandoah Valley, however, that may change, depending on what happens to the storm track when it moves inland.
