HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The trial of the Albemarle County man who was charged with two counts of murder in connection with a double homicide near Harrisonburg got underway this morning.

Online records indicate that the trial of Chavis Javon Barbour is scheduled to last five days in Rockingham County Circuit Court.

The 23-year-old Barbour faces four charges, including two counts of aggravated murder, stemming from a deadly shooting at an apartment on Newberry Lane back on April 14th of 2023.

Chavis is already serving a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to drug charges back in the fall of 2024.
