Tony Lee “Pops” Long, 61, of Elkton, passed away August 3, 2024, at his home. Tony was born October 24, 1962, in Montgomery County, Virginia and was the son of the late Rev. Donald Lee Long and Charlotte Geraldine Warren Long. His birth parents were Frances Lorraine McGuire and the late Charlie Preston Howard.
Tony started working at the young age with a paper route, and was a graduate of Waynesboro High School. He lived in Texas for a while, where he worked construction. He loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and was always lending a helping hand to family and friends. He was a self-employed carpenter and home builder, owning and operating Augusta Building Systems for many years.
On October 27, 1990, he married Sandra “Sandy” Jo Breeden Long who survives. In addition to his wife and birth mother, he is survived by a son, Travis Long and wife, Misty; a daughter, Jillian Hammer and husband, Michael; six grandchildren, Tobey Reubush, Adom Long, Dominick Long, Paige Reubush, Jamison Hammer, and Jocelynn Hammer; siblings, Junior Lee Howard, Charlie Ray Howard, Cerry Howard, Mary Howard Wright, Bettie Howard Frazier, Linda Dalton Condon, and Lori Noonkester Shaver; adoptive siblings, Russell W. Long, Andrew B. Long, Donald L. Long, Jr., Richard L. Long, Matthew W. Long, R. Michael Long, Pamela Long Bennett, Sandra M. Wyant, Michelle Toman, Katherine Renee Rhea Winder, Gwynne S. Bradberry, Sarah N. Long, Nam Kim Murphy, Amy Elizabeth Long, and Maria G. Long; lifelong best friend, Mark Koiner, as well as his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack W. Long.
Pastor Eddie Byers will conduct a Celebration of Life 1 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton.
Burial will be private at a later date.
