RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) — Todd Gilbert has resigned as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

Spokesman Brian McGinn confirmed that Gilbert resigned at five o’clock Wednesday afternoon but did not give a reason for the resignation.

The former delegate from Woodstock and House Speaker in the General Assembly was sworn in as U.S. Attorney on July 14th, taking over for Chris Kavanaugh.

Robert Tracci was named Acting U.S Attorney.
