Timothy O’Kipton (Kip) Brannon, 75, of New Market, VA, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
He was the son of the late Kermit Eugene and Marilynn Roome Brannon.
Kip was a graduate of the class of 1967 at Ripley High School in Ripley, WV. He graduated from the West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He served in the West Virginia Army National Guard Special Forces Unit. As a mechanical engineer he enjoyed teaching and mentoring those around him. A true Boy Scout and farm boy, he loved the outdoors, could fix almost anything and loved to tell a good “dad” joke.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Terry Lynn Brown Brannon; daughters, Jennifer Brannon and Allison Kerrigan and husband, Jamie; grandsons, Jack and Grant Kerrigan; sister, Kerynn Sovic and husband, Randy; uncle, Jim Brannon and wife, Drema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve Brown and wife, Mary Jo and Bruce Brown and wife, Kelly; nephews, Jamie Brown, Justin Brown and wife, Lindsay, Michael Sovic and wife, Erin, David Sovic and wife, Meagan and Nathan Brown; niece, Mary Brown; as well as many beloved cousins and extended family.
His family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at The University of Virginia Nerancy Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NNICU). He was treated with the utmost attention and respect by his care team and they showed great kindness and consideration for the family.
Visitation will be at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024, with a service in the Chapel immediately following. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
