HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Punk rock act ‘Thursday’ will perform in the Friendly City this summer.
The New Jersey band will play at the Golden Pony in Downtown Harrisonburg on Friday, July 19, the venue announced on Tuesday. Tickets are $50 and will go on sale – appropriately – this Thursday, May 23, at 10 a.m.
Thursday have been regarded as an influential band of the post-hardcore and emo music scene of the 2000’s that popularized screaming and darker themes later incorporated by other bands in the genre such as My Chemical Romance and The Used. Fronted by singer-songwriter Geoff Rickly, the band formed in 1997 and have released nine studio albums.
Their most recent album, ‘No Devolución,’ was released in 2011 before their 2013 breakup and subsequent reunion in 2016. Thursday is best known for their 2001 album ‘Full Collapse’ which features the song ‘Understanding in a Car Crash’ – a staple of their live set with a music video that gained heavy rotation on MTV2.
Indie singer-songwriter Tim Kasher, who also fronts the band ‘Cursive,’ will open. More information about the show and tickets can be found here.
