ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Virginia’s population is on the rise, with in-migration hitting three percent in the last three years.

Now, projections show that the Valley is one of the hottest destinations for new residents.

According to data from the Cooper Center for Public Service at UVA, population analysts expect Rockingham County to grow the most in the Central Valley. They expect an influx of 6,000 residents by the next Census in 2030.

By 2050, data shows that more than 100,000 people could call the county home.

Augusta and Shenandoah counties will likely add at least 1,000 people to their rolls in the next five years as well.

Meanwhile, Frederick County could see 40,000 new residents in the next 35 years.
