Sylvia Jean Dovel, 79, of Broadway, VA passed away September 16, 2024 at her residence.

She was born August 25, 1945 in Rockingham County to the late Owen Emmanuel and Beulah Virginia Smith Roadcap.

Sylvia worked at Pilgrims Pride before retiring.  She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Brethren in Christ Church in Fulks Run and attended Brighter Day Bible Church in Mt. Jackson.

On September 14, 1996 she married Harry A. Dovel, who survives.

Sylvia is also survived by her daughter, Tammy Diaz and husband Manuel of Fulks Run; two sons, Dickie L. Funkhouser of Fulks Run, Scottie G. Funkhouser of Fulks Run; one sister, Juanita Ritchie of South Carolina; grandchildren, Jason, Tonya, Timmy, Amanda, Natasha; 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Pastors Larry Rinard and Scott Budde will conduct a funeral service 11:00 AM Friday at Mt. Carmel United Brethren in Christ Church. Burial will be in the Mtn. Grove Cemetery.

Friends and family may view and sign the guestbook from 9 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
