Susan Marie “Susie” Whitesel, 53, a resident of Dayton, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at her home.
Mrs. Whitesel was born on January 24, 1971 and was the daughter of Virgil Eugene Simmons and Edith Jane Simmons of Dayton. She loved spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren play sports and hunting
On April 18, 1998, she married Gary Wayne Whitesel who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Melissa Moore of Petersburg, Alisha Sly and husband Triston of Dayton, Cody Whitesel of Dayton; stepson, Ryan Whitesel and wife Ashley of Stuarts Draft; brother, Gary Simmons and wife Pennie of Dayton; 12 grandchildren, Aisley, Cambrie, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Madison, Aubrey, Layla, Quinn, Samuel, Avery, Rylee, Kasen; one great grandchild, Azariah; and her best friend, Terri Nesselrodt and husband Tony of Rockingham.
Pastor Scott Showalter will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Clinton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed.
