Susan Gillon Crafts of Timberville, VA, died on October 21, 2024, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg, VA after a sudden onset and brief fight against lung cancer.
Susan was a native of Atlanta, a graduate of Southwest High School, and briefly attended the University of Georgia before coming home to help with the family business and eventually taking a job with Delta Airlines. After marrying and having a family, Susan and family relocated to Kansas City, KS and then Houston, TX. While in Houston, she began a professional career in the food industry, working for companies such as Armour Foods, Rath, and Lucky Seven General Stores. She also owned and operated Critters Limited, a pet store located in Houston, TX and spent many hours outside of work engaged in her hobby of raising and breeding Yorkshire Terriers.
In 1989, Susan remarried and moved with her husband to Asheville, NC, and later lived in Knoxville, TN, White, GA, Dubai, UAE, and finally settled in Broadway, VA in 2012.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jon Michael Crafts, her son Neil Anderson (Sylvia), her daughter, Ashley Susan Anderson, her grandchildren, Brandon Bahceci, Thomas Anderson, and Ellie Anderson, a brother, John Gillon (Eanne) of Lewisville, NC and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John William Gillon of East Point, GA, and her mother and stepfather, Ann Wells Gilroy and James P. Gilroy, of Murphy, NC, and two sisters, Mary Ann Gillon Harrison of Porterdale, GA, and Linda Gillon Powell of Villa Rica, GA.
A memorial graveside service and a separate celebration of life will be held on a future date.
