TIMBERVILLE, VA (Rocktown Now) — Summit Ridge Energy held an informational meeting Wednesday at the Plains District Community Center in Timberville regarding a solar project they are proposing to build and operate in the area.
The project will be located on 15628 Lone Pine Drive and will reportedly include approximately 10,800 solar modules and will span 27.4 acres of land.

Ben Gillespie with Summit Ridge said during the meeting that they have not submitted an application yet.
“We wanted to run a community meeting to get your views, your inputs and discussions,” said Gillespie.
Due to wide community discussions, a second meeting is expected to be scheduled for later in the month or early November.
Meanwhile, a petition opposing the solar farm project has reached 545 signatures. The main argument in the petition was destroying existing soil and the visual impact.
