AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Stuarts Draft man who tried to run from the law back in July will spend at least a year and a half in prison.
According to online records, James Howard Hipes Junior pleaded guilty to two charges during a hearing in Augusta County Circuit Court.
One of those charges was felony eluding in which a judge afterwards sentenced him to five years in prison with three and a half of those years suspended.
Hipes, 48, had an outstanding warrant against him for violating probation when he failed to show up for a May 13 hearing.
He tried eluding authorities but was eventually arrested at a hotel in Woodstock.
