WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Stuarts Draft man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase that wound up in a multi-vehicle crash was officially sentenced Friday, June 20, in Waynesboro Circuit Court.

According to online records, Justin Riley Harvey was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but those 5 years were suspended.

The 36-year-old Harvey will serve 3 years of supervised probation.

This concludes a saga that stemmed from an incident last November when a sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle sped away.

The pursuit ended with an eight-vehicle crash that saw multiple people taken to the hospital.

Sheriff Donald Smith stated at the time that Harvey fled law enforcement because of felony warrants that were issued by the Waynesboro Circuit Court.
