HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — Open Doors and Strength In Peers will be hosting their 4th annual Community Resource Fair on Saturday, September 6 from 10am to 2pm at the Rockingham County Administration Building Parking Lot.
The Community Resource Fair is a collaborative effort involving over 20 local non-profit organizations, businesses, and government agencies that come together to support Harrisonburg and Rockingham County residents who have lower incomes, are unhoused or unstably housed, or have recently returned from incarceration. Vendors at the fair include mental health and substance use recovery programs, health providers, employment services, and housing agencies.
“The community resource fair is a day where community members experiencing hardship can conveniently begin conversations with many of the area’s providers” says Nate Riddle, Open Doors’ Executive Director. “Even if you do not need the services but are simply interested in learning more about what is available for your neighbors, you are welcome to attend the event.”
Ragan McManus, Deputy Director of Strength In Peers adds: “The Resource Fair is an exciting opportunity for people to access valuable resources and connect with groups dedicated to uplifting and supporting the community.” In addition to resources, bagged lunches and drinks will be provided while supplies last. Upon completion of a brief survey, Strength In Peers will also provide essential survival items to individuals struggling with homelessness.
