STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton woman is in trouble with the law after she allegedly led police on a low-speed chase on Route 250.
Waynesboro Police Sergeant Evan Bourne reports that on Tuesday night, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a U-Haul moving truck that had been the subject of a “Be on the Lookout” notice for a possibly intoxicated driver that was issued earlier in the evening.
The driver of the truck, Susan Medeiros Burke did not comply and maintained a speed well below the posted limit for about three miles, before coming to a halt at a traffic light.
Burke was then taken into custody on three charges, including drug possession, DUI first offense, and eluding police.
She was released on bond and has court hearing set for September 17th.
