STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A supermarket sweep for charity is taking place in Staunton Thursday morning.
The city’s “Shop to Stop Hunger” event to benefit Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is kicking of today at 10am at the Kroger on Statler Boulevard.
The benefit features local celebrities filling carts in 60-seconds in order to win the “Cart Away Hunger” trophy.
Kroger customers can “vote” for the winner by placing food items in contestants’ donation barrels at the store or by making online contributions.
All groceries and funds will be donated directly to the Food Bank.
Since its inception in 2013, “Shop to Stop Hunger” has provided nearly 800-thousand meals across the Blue Ridge region.
