STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A local eatery has been dubbed one of the “50 best places to eat in America” by the New York Times.
The publication’s 2025 “Restaurant List” features “Maude and the Bear,” a restaurant and inn housed in a 1926-era Montgomery Ward “Kit House” in Staunton.
Chef and owner Ian Boden serves a tasting menu of creatively-crafted seasonal dishes by reservation, Thursdays through Saturdays each week, while guests of the accompanying inn can exclusively enjoy a multi-course breakfast.
Boden opened the establishment in April of 2024.
Maude and the Bear is located at 1106 North Augusta Street.
