STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The City of Staunton’s Environmental Programs Division was honored this week by the Garden Club of Virginia for the stream restoration project in Gypsy Hill Park.
Staunton received the prestigious Helen and Tayloe Murphy Conservation Leadership in Government Award, which recognizes outstanding government leadership and commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices in the Commonwealth.
The Gypsy Hill Park stream restoration project aims to revitalize Peyton Creek by repairing damaged channels and enhancing the park’s ecology.
The project will not only improve water quality and help reduce flooding risks downstream, but also create a more aesthetically pleasing environment for park visitors.
