STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — The City of Staunton is preparing for the incoming winter storm this weekend, potentially beginning Saturday and continuing into Sunday by pre-treating roads and sidewalks.

City officials state that street parking will be prohibited on certain streets downtown beginning at noon on Saturday.

The streets include Beverley Street from Lewis to Market, New Street from Johnson to Frederick, and Central Avenue from Frederick to Johnson.

The New Street and Johnson Street parking garages will be open for free starting Friday at 5:30pm.

Officials ask the community to avoid all on-street parking citywide, if possible, to help snowplows.
