WAYNESBORO, VA (Rocktown Now) — It is 17 years in jail for the Staunton man who was convicted in a fatal shooting last summer in Waynesboro.

Jacob Preston Sipe was found guilty back in March on all four charges he faced, including second-degree murder.

According to online records, a circuit court judge sentenced the 24-year-old sipe to 49 years in prison with 32 years suspended at a hearing Friday afternoon.

Sipe was charged in connected with the death of 33-year-old Trevor Hill of Waynesboro, who was found dead the morning of July 23 on the front porch of a home in the 400 block of James Avenue.

Sipe will then serve five years of supervised probation upon his release.
