STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — A Staunton man has been charged with nearly 20 counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation.
Staunton Police Sergeant Christopher Ammonds reports that 33-year-old Bruce Edward Cason was arrested as part of a joint investigation involving the Staunton Police Department and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Sergeant Ammonds says the Staunton Police Department received a referral through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in July 2025 and Cason was charged with eighteen counts of knowingly possessing and distributing child pornography and one count of knowingly possessing an obscene item depicting a person engaged in sexual contact with an animal.
Ammonds says Cason was arrested in Amarillo, Texas on February 9, 2026 with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Capital Area Fugitive Taskforce. Cason was then extradited to Staunton on March 13, 2026, and is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
