STAUNTON, VA (Rocktown Now) — Staunton City Schools will be offering 4-day meal bundles for free for students on Friday, January 23.
The bundles will include breakfast and lunch to support families at risk of food insecurity during potential school closures as severe winter weather is expected this weekend.
Each bundle includes fresh produce, whole grains, protein, and milk. Meals are provided at no cost to children 18 and under as follows:
- Limit one bundle per child
- First-come, first-served while supplies last
- A stand-in may pick up for another family with their permission
Meals are provided through the USDA Summer Food Service Program using emergency unanticipated closure authority to support families and help prevent food insecurity during severe weather.
Bundles can only be picked up on Friday, January 23 under the following options:
Option 1: Pickup 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday at the rear entrance of your child’s school, near loading docks. Families must call upon arrival with this pickup option (see school contacts below).
Option 2: Pickup in the car rider line during the designated dismissal time at your child’s school on Friday.
Option 3: Pickup from 4:00-6:30 p.m. on Friday at Staunton High School.
