STAUNTON VA (Rocktown Now) — In celebration of the Fourth of July, schedules for the City of Staunton offices and facilities will be modified on Friday. 

Residential trash collection regularly picked up on Fridays is scheduled for pick-up on Wednesday, July 2, and yard waste will be collected from city-issued bins on Wednesday, July 9. 

Downtown Central Business District customers will have their trash collection on Wednesday, July 2 and Thursday, July 3. No pick up will be on Friday. Normal trash collection will begin again on Saturday, July 5. 

The Staunton Public Library will be closed on Independence Day and will return to the normal schedule Saturday, July 5. The City of Staunton’s administrative offices close during the holiday as well. 

The Staunton Parks and Recreation, Gypsy Hill Park Pool and summer camps will be closed. Gypsy Hill Park golf course will close early at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 3 and close on Friday, July 4.

Shop & Dine Out on Beverly Street will not be affected on Friday.

Traffic alerts for around Gypsy Hill Park on Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4: 

  • West Beverley Street and Thornrose Avenue will close Friday, July 4 from 7:30am until 12:00pm for the parade. 
  • Constitution Drive (in Gypsy Hill Park) will close beginning Thursday, July 3 at 11:00pm until Friday, July 4 at 12:00pm. 

General parking in the Gypsy Hill Park football stadium parking lot will NOT be permitted from Wednesday through Saturday morning.
