ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Elkton woman accused of murdering an elderly man back in January was scheduled to appear in court this morning.

According to online records, Tabitha Nicole Taylor’s status hearing was continued until May 8, 2026, in Harrisonburg/Rockingham Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

The 38-year-old Taylor is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 84-year-old Winfred Thomas Shiflett after a domestic disturbance turned into a violent altercation early in the morning of Sunday, January 4, 2026, in the 1600 of Lawson Lane.

Taylor remains in custody.
