HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA has launched a new campaign to educate folks on the importance of adopting adult dogs.

It’s called “Mutt-urity” and it’s to show that for most dog breeds, once they turn two years old, they are fully matured, meaning their personality and behaviors are pretty set.

RHSPCA is launching the campaign because of their significant uptick in dog surrenders, and are now at full capacity, at over 130 dogs. In a social media post, the SPCA said they’re predicting that they are on track for 1,300 intakes by the end of the year, which is a 25% increase than last year.

You can find all dogs as well as other furry friends that are up for adoption or fostering at rhspca.org.
