ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — After two consecutive years of agricultural drought, the Shenandoah Valley is seeing a relatively dry spring.
The U.S. Drought Monitor updated their website Thursday morning, and that update was not a positive sign for the Shenandoah Valley.
Several areas of Virginia received only 25 to 50 percent of normal precipitation during the past 60 days. As of Tuesday of this week, 92% of Augusta County and 100% of Rockingham, Page, and Shenandoah Counties were listed as suffering from moderate drought conditions. Most of Rockbridge County is still described as only “abnormally dry.”
