WEYERS CAVE, VA (Rocktown Now) — Shenandoah Valley Airport will temporarily close its runway on Thursday afternoon from two to four to accommodate aerial survey work conducted by a drone.
This survey is part of the recently completed runway rehabilitation project and is a quality control measure to ensure the upgraded infrastructure meets all plans and specifications.
Airport officials say the Federal Aviation Administration has approved this work, and all operations will be conducted in accordance with FAA guidelines and safety protocols.
During the survey period, the public may notice drone activity in the vicinity of the airport. There is no cause for concern, as this is a scheduled and authorized operation.
