Rodney Dale Stroop, 71, a resident of Keezletown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the University of Virginia Hospital surrounded by his family.

Rodney was born on January 14, 1953 and was the son of the late Mary Rhodes and Russell Stroop. He worked for Tyco Electronics for 17 years and later became self-employed owning and operating Rodney Stroop Trucking. He was an avid CB operator and enjoyed talking locally and across the U.S. He loved working outdoors and seeing the wildlife around his home. He was a member of Bethel Church of Keezletown.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce Baker Stroop; son, Jeremy Stroop; grandchildren, Autum Stroop, Kaylee Stroop, Callen Stroop; and brother, Eddie Stroop (Beverly).

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Williams; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Bare Stroop.

Sandra Cave and Pastor William Staton will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Church of Keezletown. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, June 14, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home.
