ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. (REFI) announced the establishment of the Broadway Gobblers Opportunity Scholarship, a new endowed scholarship created to support first-year college students pursuing agriculture and agriculture-related fields due to a gift from an anonymous donor.
According to a release, the Broadway Gobblers Opportunity Scholarship is designed to distribute up to approximately $115,000 annually and may be awarded to multiple graduating Seniors of Broadway High School. Scholarship funds may be used toward tuition, mandatory fees, room and board, books, and other qualified educational expenses during the student’s first academic year at an accredited postsecondary institution.
Due to the timing of the endowment’s establishment, a partial distribution amount will be awarded in the inaugural year. Beginning next year, the scholarship is expected to be awarded at its full intended annual distribution level.
This scholarship is designed as a one-time, first-year award, providing financial support as students transition from high school to postsecondary education. The scholarship aims to increase access to agriculture-focused education and career pathways.
