ROCKINGHAM, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – U.S. Forest Service officials say the Capon and Brush Run fires in Rockingham County are under control.
Incident Commander Colton Moor said the county fires, spanning nearly 2,400 acres, are completely contained along with all others in the North Zone complex. Command of the complex will be handed back to local firefighting units on Saturday.
The five fires in the North Zone Complex will be monitored and patrolled until they are declared out. Closure orders for all areas remain in effect.
Those fires have charred nearly 16,000 acres with nearly 6,400 of those acres in Page and Shenandoah Counties as well as the 6,200-acre Waites Run fire in Hardy County, West Va.
