ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Residents in Rockingham County will have a chance to voice their opinions on money items at the next two board of supervisors’ meetings.
The first opportunity will be Wednesday evening (April 8) during a public hearing on the proposed budget.
Deputy County Administrator Trish Davidson said on Early Mornings yesterday that with the state not finalizing its spending plan, county officials have had to guess on how much funding they think they will get from Richmond.
“We do have a budget prepared for Wednesday’s board meeting. We will have a public hearing on that budget, but of course it has some guesstimates on what the state’s doing with our constitutional officers, with our COLAs, kind of a merit increase or our cost-of-living increases for employees, it’s all contingent on what the state decides to do,” Davidson said.
The meeting begins at 6pm at the County Administration building on East Gay Street in Harrisonburg.
A second public hearing will be held at the April 22nd meeting and that will be on the tax rate.
