ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Rockingham County’s Community Development department was honored by the Virginia Association of Counties (VaCo) for their Development Tracker.

County staff were presented with a VaCo Achievement award at the Rockingham Board of Supervisors meeting earlier this week. The tracker is used to follow rezoning and special use permit requests in County.

Community Development Director Rachel Salatin explained how the tool benefits both county staff and residents.

“It’s a way for the public to go to one spot in a very simple locationand get that information,” Salatin said. “It’s also been really kind of an ancillary benefit to training staff members, specifically in community development to teach the process how it goes and the timing of things. But it’s really a way to get more information out to the public and just be very accessible and attainable.”

The Development Tracker can be found on Rockingham County’s website. The Board also elected District 5 Supervisor Joel Hensley to represent Rockingham at VaCo’s annual conference in November.
