ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Rockingham County fire officials are investigating what caused a fire that destroyed a home Monday afternoon in the Singers Glen area.

Chief Jeremy Holloway reported that the call came in shortly after 1 p.m. and crews were then dispatched to the 8,300 block of Hopkins Gap Road.

“The first crews arrived within three minutes and found the structure fully involved,” Holloway said. “Other units began arriving as Hopkins Gap Road is pretty far away from emergency services and put water on the fire.”

Holloway added that it took firefighters around 45 minutes to bring the fire under control but not before it was deemed a total loss.

Nobody was home at the time and no injuries were reported. housefire
