ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) — Rockingham County has declared a local state of emergency due to the impact caused by recent snow and ice storms, effective last Sunday.

The storms have caused widespread damage throughout the community, including the collapse of at least 11 poultry houses and one greenhouse.

County officials are currently seeking aggregate data for damages such as buildings lost, equipment lost, animals lost and their associated values. They state that estimates of values are ok as a starting point.
