ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Code of Virginia mandates that a general reassessment be conducted by Rockingham County at least every four years. Reassessment is the process by which the assessed value of real estate property held by citizens, businesses, and industries within the County boundaries is revised to reflect fair market value.
After contracting with a private firm for the 2022 general reassessment, Rockingham County has returned this work to the office of our Commissioner of the Revenue.
The reassessment field staff has begun their work visiting properties to confirm that the information for each property is accurate and up to date. The staff will carry Rockingham County employee identification and will be in vehicles clearly marked with the words Real Estate and the Rockingham County seal.
The general reassessment for Rockingham County will be effective January 1, 2026.
