ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (Rocktown Now) – Despite this week’s rain that has helped fire crews battle several wildfires up and down the valley, Rockingham County Fire and Rescue Chief Jeremy Holloway announced that the county’s burn ban is being extended until next week.
Holloway said Friday could bring high winds and “fire weather” so the burn ban will end Monday at 4pm.
Meanwhile, Shenandoah National Park officials announced yesterday afternoon they have opened Byrds Nest 4 Shelter as well as opened all closed trails and they have lifted the parkwide fire ban.
