The Rockingham County Board of Supervisors voted last night to approve a special use permit for the market, which will be on farmland in Elkton and sell local produce.
District 5 supervisor Joel Hensley said it would be a welcome addition to the county.
I think things like this really go a long way and it fits Rockingham County very well in keeping our food local, so I’m really excited to see this and I think this will be a good thing for the area,” Hensley said.
The market’s applicant Laura Waldron, said during a public hearing that they hope to promote Rockingham County’s farmers and their produce to community members and visitors.
