ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Governor Glenn Youngkin has appointed Rockingham County Commonwealth’s Attorney Marsha Garst to the Virginia State Crime Commission.
Garst’s appointment was announced on Friday along with several dozen other officials across the Commonwealth for various boards at the state level.
According to the Commission’s website, it studies, reports, and makes recommendations on public safety and protection with an aim to identify and reduce crime causes. It also recommends criminal rehabilitation methods and studies compensation for law enforcement and related fields.
Additionally, it examines matters like criminal apprehension, trial and punishment of offenders.
Other officials in the Shenandoah Valley appointed to Virginia state boards in the Governor’s announcement include:
- Darla All – of Waynesboro; General Manager and Licensed Optician at Visionworks; appointed to the Board for Hearing Aid Specialists and Opticians
- Brandon Monnett – of Grottoes; Utilities Manager at Molson Coors Beverage Company; appointed to the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals
- Larry James – of Augusta County; EHS Manager at Cargill; appointed to the Safety and Health Codes Board
- Austin Shank – of Grottoes; Parks & Tourism Manager for the Town of Grottoes; appointed to the Cave Board
