Last night’s Rockingham County Board of Supervisor’s meeting included a public hearing regarding a special use permit for the business. The applicant told the board that it would be a nice addition to the area that fits within the county’s comprehensive plan for economic growth.
However, one of those residents, Paul Hanson, disagreed.
“Growth makes money, I understand that, but we also have to realize that every tree is not a potential stump, and one acre of farmland that’s lost will never be recovered,” Hanson said.
The board voted unanimously to table that discussion to address logistical issues as well as safety concerns over access for emergency services to the area.
