HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – Harrisonburg City Public Schools has announced that the Rock City Regiment Marching Band will be performing at the National Veterans Parade in Washington on Sunday, Nov. 10.

With the acceptance, the Rock City Regiment continues the tradition of excellence previously set for decades by the Marching Blue Streak Band.

The band is a collaborative ensemble that is made up of students from Harrisonburg High School and the new Rocktown High School. The school division’s Coordinator of Visual and Performing arts, JR Snow, said inclusion in the event will be an honor for the new ensemble.

“We feel humbled that Rock City Regiment will represent our community in a national event, and particularly one that honors our nation’s veterans,” Snow said.

In addition to marching in the parade on Nov. 10, the Rock City Regiment will perform their 2024 field show Forged Together on the National Mall as part of the National Field Show festival.
